Before you start: collect 30 to 40 sentences (20 minutes)
No technique, just copy and paste into a document:
- Your comments and messages: copy the most telling sentences. Delete names and anything that identifies a person.
- Reviews of your competitors’ offers (low and high stars): what people liked, hated, regretted.
- Public forums or groups in your niche: only public sentences, never private information.
Paste each sentence on its own line, with where it comes from (comment, review, forum). Invent nothing and don’t summarize.
The message to copy
You are going to help me understand what my audience thinks. I'm not technical: talk to me in simple words and go one step at a time.
Rules: work only with the sentences I am going to paste. Invent no sentence, no quote, no figure. When you quote someone, copy their sentence exactly between quotation marks. If a point is not in my sentences, write “not in my data”.
Step 1. Ask me my field, my offer and who I speak to. Then tell me how many sentences I need at minimum and wait for me to paste them.
Step 2. Analyse my sentences in 4 blocks, with exact quotes:
Block 1: who these people are, what they hope for, what they missed, what they believe about their situation.
Block 2: what they already use, what they like and dislike in these solutions, the stories that went badly.
Block 3: what surprises or intrigues them, the different attempts they mention.
Block 4: what they think made their problem worse (their beliefs about the cause).
Step 3. Give me the 5 beliefs and the 5 fears that come up most, each with 2 exact sentences that prove it.
Step 4. Fill in my ideal customer profile in 12 fields: age and situation, what they tried, what they fear, the words they use, where they spend their time online, what they already pay for, the event that makes them act, their number 1 objection, their goal at 6 months, who influences them, what they like, what they dislike. Write “not in my data” for the fields my sentences can't fill.
Step 5. Write 10 content openings (hooks) from their words, without copying a sentence as is, and say which beliefs they target. Also suggest 3 angles my competitors seem not to use, based on my sentences.
Step 6. Tell me what data I am missing to be more certain, and what kind of sentences to collect next. Give me the profile and the lists in a single block to copy into a file.
How it works
- Open a new conversation in your assistant (Claude, ChatGPT or another).
- Paste the message above, then your 30 to 40 sentences.
- Read each block. Check the quotes: they must be in your document.
To make it work well
- Respect privacy. No names, no addresses, no private messages from an identifiable person without their consent.
- Vary the sources. Sentences from a single place give a partial view.
- Always check a quote before using it. If you can’t find it in your document, don’t use it.
- Redo it every quarter. Your audience changes.
Frequently asked questions
Why not ask the AI to look for the sentences itself?
Because it cannot reliably see comments and reviews on social networks. It could make things up. When you collect them yourself, everything it quotes exists.
How many sentences do I really need?
Between 30 and 40 to start. Fewer, and the analysis stays fragile. More is better, until the same ideas keep coming back.
Can I use other people's sentences in my content?
Reuse the words and ideas to talk like them, but don’t quote a person without their consent, and don’t copy another creator’s sentence.
Does it work with ChatGPT?
Yes. The message works as well with Claude as with ChatGPT.
